| Eating out options in the Algarve have changed over the years. You can now choose from the whole range of world cuisines on your next Algarve visit. Koh Samui, centrally located in the resort of Carvoeiro, is a well established Thai restaurant serving authentic thai dishes made according to traditional recipes. In its present location for five years, Koh Samui continues a family tradition of Thai restaurants. Sr. Raul, the multi-lingual owner, is a citizen of the world by way of Portugal, Germany and of course Thailand. He looks after the front of house while the cooking is in the capable hands of his Thai wife. Every effort is made to use the most authentic products – most of them imported directly from Thailand. All the dishes are cooked to order using fresh produce and original spices – no added glutamate here! With an ever increasing army of fans, Thai food is a tasty and healthy option. Thai Jasmine Rice, fish, vegetables and herbs feature prominently in the Thai cooking. Dishes can be very hot and spicy, if that is to your taste, or much milder and even sweet. At Koh Samui popular options include the green, red and yellow curries, massaman, as well as the chicken, prawns and duck served with a sweet peanut sauce, and the fried rice which comes served within a pineapple. Vegetarians are well catered for at Koh Samui – there is a good selection of tasty dishes to choose from. And keeping the faith with real Thai cooking, you can’t get a side order of chips here. The desserts are again, typical Thai desserts - such as sticky rice with mango and sweet banana. Over the years Koh Samui has built up a good base of regular clients and not just in Carvoeiro. Many fans of Thai food prefer to travel to Carveorio, to be sure of getting the real thing. The restaurant is decorated with many mementos from Thailand, the background music is Thai, the TV channels are Thai and even the beer is Thailands favourite - Singha beer. At Koh Samui they are well able to cater for parties and they also offer a take-away service. |
